Roots in Rugby

Atavus was launched in late 2010 as Serevi Rugby. For the first three years, we systematically built out a player pathway aimed at introducing athletes to Rugby and providing development and competitive play opportunities at every stage, youth through to National Team.

The Intersection of Rugby and Football

Since inception, our company has focused on the shared benefits of Rugby and Football and on the merits of cross training. We’ve pulled best practices from all over the globe in coaching, player pathway development and high performance training in our quest to build instinctive athletes. One natural outcome of that dual-sport development process has been the integration of the Rugby tackle into our coaching of contact in Football. As we’ve built our programs and products, we’ve been extremely fortunate to work with partners such as The University of Washington, The Ohio State University, The University of Nebraska and the Seattle Seahawks.

Building Blocks

In 2015, we hired Rex Norris, Jr. as our Head of Football and began to build a team of coaches and data analysts around him.


In May 2015, we rebranded from Serevi Rugby to Atavus to better take advantage of the opportunities afforded us in Football.

Product Building

The team began building a robust slate of products & services aimed at helping coaches at all levels – youth through NFL – teach more effective, safer tackling using the Atavus Tackle System™.

Marketing Director
We are looking for a Marketing Director to lead, develop and have overall responsibility for our marketing activities. You will oversee a fully integrated marketing team and strategy for the business to achieve strategic and financial goals.
The ideal candidate will have worked in a dynamic high growth startup environment and will have helped successfully transform innovative digital product concepts into category leaders in large and small companies. He or she will know how to apply the methods of product marketing to ensure clarity of strategy, positioning and execution priorities for a strong launch in online and offline environments and will be comfortable thinking big and diving deep.

Football Department Intern

If you have played, coached, and/or have a working understanding of football and are pursuing a college degree in one of the following areas: Math, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, and have good computer literacy skills – we would love to hear from you. You will need to enjoy watching football, working with and manipulating data, and have some prior experience with data mining & pivot tables.  A working knowledge of HUDL is an advantage but not required.
